Longfellow ArtWorks

ArtWorks is a year round, parent-funded arts program culminating in the Artworks Festival each May. The festival celebrates the arts, showcases student talents, and is the primary fundraising event to support the art program at Longfellow. Students collaborate with teachers, artists-in-residents, parents, and each other to create both individual and group works to present for sale to the Longfellow community. Items range from canvas bags to mirrors, chairs, and dressers. The ArtWorks program funds artists-in-residence throughout the year. This year, Longfellow artists-in-residence have included Bozeman’s Equinox Theatre Company, The Dance Center, Missoula Children's Theater, Montana Shakes, as well as several local artists that work with the kids on specific art pieces and art mediums. Please join us for this fun and festive event at Longfellow School.
Art is important at the elementary level because it allows the creative mind to engage, which carries over to other areas of study such as engineering, physics, history, and math. As an example, just think how many times you have had to use math to build something, physics to make it work, and engineering to pull it all together…..art is there throughout!
